About Us
Hosts: Stan and Jenny Whitty Wharetutu Boutique Bed and Breakfast AccommodationHaving travelled extensively in the UK and Europe staying in hosted bed and breakfast accommodation we have learned from this experience exactly what makes a good B&B. Comfortable, private accommodation with friendly, knowledgeable hosts. This is what we offer all our guests. After enjoying many years of holidays in Nelson, we decided to set up 'Wharetutu' on a two acre block with stunning views of mountains and rural countryside, just a 30 minute drive from Nelson airport in the beautiful setting of Tasman. From here we are within a short drive to the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. The name Wharetutu (pronounced Far-e-tutu) is a Mâori name meaning (Whare) House (Tutu) Tree. Wharetutu was Stan’s great, great, great grandmother. Born early in the nineteenth century she was the youngest of eight children of Tahuna and Tahupare, both of Ngai Tahu. With an excellent knowledge of the area we can provide you with detailed information and maps, ensuring that you get the most our of your stay in the Nelson region. We both have a range of interests, apart from meeting and looking after guests and travelling - Stan enjoys cycling and golf and Jenny enjoys walking and retail therapy!
